授業の目的 |
This class continues to introduce academic skills. You will develop all four of your English skills (listening, speaking, reading, and writing), but in class, we will focus on speaking and listening. Combined with IB, you will study all four skills this semester. You will read articles, listen to stories, watch videos, and talk about each topic. At the same time that you use English to learn about real-world content, you will apply it to your life and compare and contrast it with Japan. In this class, we will start to develop skills that you need not only in English but also in Japanese. These include: 1. Give, agree with, and politely disagree with opinions. 2. Analyze new facts and apply them to your life. 3. Decide when information is reliable and important. 4. Understand the basic structure of conversations, things you hear, and articles you read. 5. Provide support for your ideas. 6. Actively participate in pair and small group discussions. |

履修上の注意 |
Homework Please complete ALL of the textbook homework BEFORE class. In class, we will do communicative activities based on the homework. If you have not done the homework before class, you will not be able to effectively participate in class. Homework is a part of your grade and has three purposes: 1. Prepare you for that day’s class. If you have not completed the work before the class, you will have a difficult time following and participating in the class. 2. Show that you understand the material. And help you realize what you did not understand so you can then understand it. 3. Give you extra time and practice using English.100 minutes once a week is not enough to improve! Late Work Assignments must be turned in on time or points will be deducted according to the chart below. (You will lose the percentage of points you earn.) weekly Homework *Not accepted because discussed in class Major Assignments 1 week or under 10% Up to 2 weeks 25% Up to 3 weeks 40% More than 3 weeks 50% |
