Course objective: Database is an important system or concept for collecting, managing and reusing data on a computer. This lecture introduces some fundamental knowledge, mainly about relational databases, for designing databases. |

In addition to the face-to-face class, the online classes are held via Microsoft Teams. Furthermore, the recorded classes are available on Microsoft Stream. You can attend either of face-to-face, online (Teams) or on-demand (Stream) classes. Mini-exam will be conducted in every class. Explanations about each mini-exam will be given in the next class. |

Your final grade will be decided based on the scores of mini-exams (40%) and final exam (60%). Evaluate whether you recognize each of the followings, based on the scores of mini-exams and corresponding questions in the final exam: 1. Relational data model and database, 2. SQL, 3. Physical data structures, 4. Relational query processing and transactions. For each of the above metrics, total score of corresponding mini-exams and questions in the final exam should be more than 50%, and the average of those scores should be more than 60% to pass. |

Mini-exams will be conducted in all classes, except for the "Revisit" (14th) class. If you will fail to submit answers for more than 3 mini-exams, your grade will be 'E' (unattended). For each class, 180 min. is needed for self-learning (90 min. for preparation, and 90 min. for review). |
